Galaxy: Day 19 of the 31 Day Challenge

I am in love with these. I was okay with my previous attempt. But here I can see real progress - and I love that! We had a dark and dingy day so to show the true colours and shine I did resort to flash. Sorry! I'll have these on in the morning so lets hope there is a sunny day coming and I will update.

These feature real constellations!  In order of thumb to pinky these are: Ursa Major - the Great Bear, Orion - the Hunter, Gemini - the Twins, Hercules and Perseus.

I really loved the colours I used:
Base: Cult Nails Nevermore and A England Morgan Le Fay
Lilac - Essie Bangle Jangle
Nude - Essie Brooch the Subject
Blue /green duochrome - Illamasqua Strike
White - Sally Hansen Insta Dry Whirlwind White

Morgan Le Fay over black could have done the job itself. It was so sparkly and shiny - Terrible to get excess off your fingers if you sponge it though! I think the nude and lilac made it quite life like but the duo chrome just made it pop and added a little something of its own.

 See the difference?

I will definitely be doing this again. I do love sponging right now!

In other news - today I moved into my year 2 uni house! It took a lot of packing and lifting but I am unpacked and very happy... first thing to do was of course create a nail polish station!!!

Go look at the other bloggers work - I loved their galaxies and I look forward to their attempt at the dreaded watermarble!

Polka Dots: Day 11 of the 31 Day Challenge

I am back to *kind* of normal posting! From now on I should at have all my equipment with me anyways...

These were done very quickly after the train home. A combo I've wanted to try for a while - you can see the pink sheen in my nude base, Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude (previously untried) which I thought  would match the pink, Sally Hansen Insta Dry Presto Pink, pretty well... but the match didn't show on the camera at all... So imagine it for me huh? Here's the pink shine:

Now imagine that pink shimmer with this dotticure on top:

Ugh. My camera does not like pink.
And so I dislike the results of this manicure but its pretty in real life and while doing it I got a lot of new ideas for some new dotticure's to try after the challenge is over. Now I am going to go crash and get up ready to buck my ideas up for tomorrow's challenge. Stripes!

Metalllic: Day 8 of the 31 Day Challenge

I love this polish!! I hadn't tried this before and I didn't have any ideas for this challenge (and and incredible lack of time) so I decided to keep it simple....

Base: Sally Hansen Insta Dry Metallic Madness
Detailing with dotting tool: Cult Nails Nevermore

I loved this polish so much I immediately put it on my toes! Application was a dream, and the name fits too!

W7 Pewter Swatch with IKEA/Rainbow Dotticure

So this was a random idea coming from some of the great dotticure's that have been around recently.

This mani really reminded me of IKEA for some reason - the bright colours against a grey background maybe. So I always refer to it as my IKEA manicure in my head!

A swatch of the base colour, W7's Pewter. I like the colour but as you may see there's a few lumps and bumps due to a wonky brush and so application is horrible with this bottle! I rarely use it but I thought it was perfect for this mani!

Freehand Black and Gold Owl - with a little special inspiration!

For my birthday my university friends sent me a small card which was delivered by - guess what - an owl! I'm a little obsessed with owls - from calendars to days out (my 18th birthday present), to toys to posters every where. So I had to have a mani inspired by this!

Monkey See Monkey Do Monday - Pink Glitter Leopard Print

For my first MSMD Monday, I decided to replicate Chalkboard's Leopard print manicure using her great tutorial with a dotting tool, which I never would have thought of.

I preferred my right hand for once, mainly as I'd just had the practice of my left! Click on for some more pictures and polish details.
