Inspired by Supernatural: Day 29 of the 31 Day Challenge

Today I wanted to go for something pretty and sparkly. Halloween is just around the corner and I'm sure i'll have plenty of ghosts and ghouls on my nails then! As soon as I saw Sally Hansen Emerald Express in the UK's version of dusty polish hunting, Poundland, I knew what I was going to do - dragons scales! Not incredibly impressed with these but omg that colour! I am in love!

Inspired by a Flag: Day 28 of the 31 Day Challenge

50 GFC followers! Thank you guys for putting up with me! ;) This really does mean a lot to me! I started this blog as I love nail art and I love this community - and thank you for welcoming me in!

For my inspiration I went to my county flag - the Yorkshire flag. This is the Yorkshire White Rose which comes form the house of York. I am definitely going to be wearing this again on Yorkshire day next year!

Inspired by Artwork: Day 27 of the 31 Day Challenge

Here is a technique I have been wanting to try for a while... Watercolour nails! And it fits quite nicely don't you think?

This was created using Rebecca Likes Nails' tutorial using blobs of polish and acetone! I love this look. I will defiantly be trying  this out again - maybe in a rainbow of monotone nails? Neon? Hmmm. IdeasIdeasIdeas.

Thanks for the peek! Go check out the awesome work below... some great work for today's challenge!

Inspired by Fashion: Day 25 of the 31 Day Challenge

Here is my entry for inspired by fashion. Ever since I saw this dress I have wanted it! Who wouldn't?
black with gold chain decoration body con mini dress

And not so long ago I found a cheap chain that would be perfect. Unfortuantly the weather has been awful. And then my camera ran out of battery. Today is just not my day! I hope tomorrow is! I'm going back to university!

Inspired by A Book: Day 24 of the 31 Day Challenge

Sorry for disappearing! The madness of doing this challenge while moving to uni finally caught up to me. Add a St Johns Ambulance duty for freshers week (where all traces of polish have to be removed and many vomit bowls were involved) and I missed two days. I am determined that I will catch up by the end!

So for today, a simple, very quick manicure with the inspiration of a university science textbook - The Cell. So - cells! You can imagine how excited I was for Llarowe's new science plate! It's actually the first official day of university today - so it fits!

Inspired By A Colour - Day 21 of the 31 Day Challenge

Its the start of the 'inspired by' challenges and it is these which are going to be a real struggle for me. Today I was inspired by blue (and my new cheeky plates) to create a nautical design. Execution wasn't my best (especially the stripping tape. I don't know what happened there!) but with the 31 Day Challenge I have just been so rushed! I'll definitely be preparing for the next one! (And won't be moving to a new house huh!)

Watermarble: Day 20 of the 31 Day Challenge

So these are messy as it was my first go, at 3am, standing in my new kitchen while chatting to a room mate (who I made choose the colours ^^), but they were an experiment and I learned new things like putting the Vaseline in the cracks of your knuckles and check for bubbles and its only a thin layer of polish on your nail so be really careful with acetone and top coat... And to look for some ideas on how to create shapes and patterns. As I will be trying this again. I didn't manage to get all that good with the designs but I think everything else worked out just fine! That's what experimenting is for!

(So of course pictures are with flash unfortunately. Tomorrow I'll be ordering a white light lamp!)

I'll definitely be doing more holo water marbling! Soooo pretty just to see a flash of it!
And using a polish I only got today! Even better!

Galaxy: Day 19 of the 31 Day Challenge

I am in love with these. I was okay with my previous attempt. But here I can see real progress - and I love that! We had a dark and dingy day so to show the true colours and shine I did resort to flash. Sorry! I'll have these on in the morning so lets hope there is a sunny day coming and I will update.

These feature real constellations!  In order of thumb to pinky these are: Ursa Major - the Great Bear, Orion - the Hunter, Gemini - the Twins, Hercules and Perseus.

I really loved the colours I used:
Base: Cult Nails Nevermore and A England Morgan Le Fay
Lilac - Essie Bangle Jangle
Nude - Essie Brooch the Subject
Blue /green duochrome - Illamasqua Strike
White - Sally Hansen Insta Dry Whirlwind White

Morgan Le Fay over black could have done the job itself. It was so sparkly and shiny - Terrible to get excess off your fingers if you sponge it though! I think the nude and lilac made it quite life like but the duo chrome just made it pop and added a little something of its own.

 See the difference?

I will definitely be doing this again. I do love sponging right now!

In other news - today I moved into my year 2 uni house! It took a lot of packing and lifting but I am unpacked and very happy... first thing to do was of course create a nail polish station!!!

Go look at the other bloggers work - I loved their galaxies and I look forward to their attempt at the dreaded watermarble!

Glitter: Day 17 of the 31 Day Challenge

Its finally time for Mirror Ball! Very picture heavy post coming up. I took nearly 200 photos! Which is one of the reasons this is so late in the day (2am the next morning!). The other being I am packing up to go back to university so of course I got distracted and had to do a slight clear out of my entire room so there is still a whole bed full of stuff to sort before I can go to bed. Le sigh. Any way. To what you really want to see - the collection....

I wanted to try them all and I had natural light to fight, so I did them all! One  hand with matching colours and my personal favourite - on black. Each hand was then top coated with a matte top coat. I also used a pva base coat for the first time and man I am in love!

More pictures and specific details after the cut.

Tribal: Day 16 of the 31 Day Challenge

Well this was supposed to be up hours ago but a combination or Doctor Who, crafty things on pintrest and fanfiction distracted me. Bad laptop, bad! ^.^ This nail art took a long time to do as it was my first ever tribal mani and I wanted to have a really good try at creating a
range of tribal patterns. I think I achieved that! It took so long that I missed natural light so these pictures will be replaced in the morning (after I've neatened them up after looking at some of these shots!) I do like how this one shows off the metallic:

I tried to base the colours at least from this tee.... at least it gave me a place to start anyway!

Base: Essie Brooch the Subject
Illamasqua Jo'mina
W7 Teal
Barry M Special Effects Gold Foil
Essie Chubby Cheeks
Black Acrylic Paint

I hadn't used Essie's before (I got some of the last Autumn collection for £2 each!) and I really loved them! The nude base I thought particularly suited my skin tone and isn't it nice to find a nail polish match! Never mind a foundation match! ;)

So I am pretty proud of this one, especially as freehand is definitely not a natural skill of mine. It'll be a shame to take it off tomorrow - I don't know if I could do another one of these as it is so time consuming. But then its MIRRORBALL TIME!!! So I won't be upset for long! See you then!

Delicate: Day 15 of the 31 Day Challenge

Wow. Half way through! Here for day 15 is an attempt at a lacey mani, with many untrieds. A England's Morgan Le Fay is definitely the star of the bunch. I loved how even in the dark this topcoat would show a fabulous shimmer. The pearls were something I've been wanting to try for a while and I liked how they looked!

Flowers: Day 14 of the 31 Day Challenge

New rule of blogging - thou shall not blog when a drop of alcohol has past your lips. Here's a revamped post with a very cute floral design using a previously untried A England as a stamping polish! I loved this combo as they were both so shiny and sweet together (which made photography hard). This design is just flawless. I love the intricacy of it. It will definitely be seen in the the not to distant future!
